Description

In our first example, we are going to look at playing the major scale up the High E string. This is the best way for us to begin to explore this concept more in depth, as it follows our pattern (WWHWWWH) very literally. Starting on the first fret of the High E string (F), we will move up this pattern paying special attention to the whole steps and half steps.

The notes in the key of F are:
F-G-A-Bb-C-D-E-F

Taking this concept on the high E string, let's take a look at an example of this concept in the lead style of John Mayer in the key of F.
