The Kalimba (or thumb piano), is an African instrument that has both a percussive and harmonic tone. Using a muted right hand technique, this examples showcases a moving chord progression played with a Kalimba sounding tonality on the guitar. The progression is in A minor but explores other harmonic territory as well, employing both good compositional skills and strong right hand technique. The key emphasis is this example is to help create the sound of another instrument with the acoustic guitar. This can be further explored and experimented with by mimicking the tonality of many of the world's instruments.
