Hello. My bame is Azy. I've been on here for a few months. I've completed my guitar fendementals, and am now going through the Rock course.

My question is, when do i start playing songs? So far, I've stuck to the program, and played all the practice tunes as per the lessons. At what point is it okay to start learning existing songs? Should i do it after completing the rock guitar course, or is the Guitar fundementals enough?

Do it now...do not delay. If you can pick a song or 2 that is at your level and you really enjoy then you will learn. Do both concurrently always.

Hi Azy,

Congratulations on finishing the Fundamentals course!

And, OF COURSE you should start having fun learning to play some songs that you like. Have a look through the vast list of Songs Lessons on GT, and give a few of them a try.

Some may fit right in with your current skills, and some may want to wait for a little later - but either way, playing songs is one of the funnest things about playing guitar.

Go for it!

Instructors list some suggested songs...I believe it's after the chapters. They are songs you should be able to play...at your level. Check it out. I also didn't play many songs at first..and I regret it.. but I did really enjoy the ones i did learn . I'm now taking time to learn more songs. Good luck!

Lisa is spot on - play!

Pick out something fun; something that you like and go for it.

Maybe even sing a bit ;)
