Hello and welcome

Good luck with your studies. I began playing the bass just recently. As part of my guitar progression I began writing songs and my goal is play guitar, bass, drums on my songs.

Currently, my bass playing just follows the chord structure. Nothing fancy but seems to work so far.

Any suggestions for a newbie bass player?

Hi William

I played the bass at the age of 12 in 1963 when the Beatles were going stong.

All I can say is learn the notes on the fretboard which is something I am only doing now at 69 on the guitar. It has taken me a month to do this and it is amazing how much it helps.

Also keep it simple. It is great now as you can extract music and just listen to the bass thanks to computers.

Good luck.

John
