I've been playing guitar for 5 years now and i still dom't know what a scale is (or a scale box), it may be something to do with notes in chords.

a scale is simply a series of notes that produce a particular sound, no matter where they are played.
e.g a C major scale is made up of C D E F G A B
and a G major scale is made up of G A B C D E F#
the notes change but the overall sound doesn't
I suggest that you consider taking lessons and get taught this properly.
