I've been playing guitar for 5 years now and i still dom't know what a scale is (or a scale box), it may be something to do with notes in chords.

a scale is simply a series of notes that produce a particular sound, no matter where they are played.

e.g a C major scale is made up of C D E F G A B
and a G major scale is made up of G A B C D E F#

the notes change but the overall sound doesn't

I suggest that you consider taking lessons and get taught this properly.

Hope i made sense:)

I also suggest taking lessons. It's important to start developing good habits early on, and stopping bad habits. There's no shame in having a teacher, just think of it as a way to nurture your talents. A lot of the greats took lessons in their earlier years (and later years even).
