BucketHead & Friends – “Enter The Chicken”

BucketHead has been known to Shred fans for some years now, his time with Guns ‘N’ Roses brought him to the attention of a wider audience. Raised in a chicken coup, never seen without his chicken bucket hat and face mask, and communicating only through a severed head – he is one of the strangest characters in music.

“Enter the Chicken” is BucketHead’s first release on Serj Tankian’s ‘Serjical Strike’ Label, and sees him joined by guest vocalists from many genres. From the screaming thrash of "Botnus" with Efrem Schultz, to the other-worldly vocals of Azam Ali on "Coma", BucketHead demonstrates at every turn his total command of the instrument.

From a Guitarist’s perspective, ‘Nottingham Lace’ is the standout track. It is the only instrumental on the album, and showcases BucketHead’s extreme technique, complex rhythms and musical ideas. His speed and dexterity are almost unbelievable, and are certainly food for thought for us mere mortals. The passion and anger in BucketHead’s playing are laid bare for all to see. ‘Enter The Chicken’ sees the geeky, Sci-Fi loving Kung Fu master project his loathing for the world to a new audience.

Despite being an extremely technical album, ‘Enter The Chicken’ is BucketHead’s most accessible release to date. The track ‘Three Fingers’ is now on the motion picture soundtrack for ‘Saw III’, which will only broaden his appeal.

If you’re new to BucketHead, this is a good introduction. His output is diverse, so check out some of his other releases too…
