Cost: $338.67 USD on ebay

Name: Roland Vs-880EX Hard Disk Recorder

Pros:

Great effects for vocals on board.

Easy push button recording.

Non destructive editing.

Undo for up to 30 levels.

Great mic modeling.

Great EQ setups.

Decent Memory actually with two seperate IDE drives.

Cons:

No internal CD-R drive.

Guitar modeling is terrible.

You need quality monitor speakers to get a great sounding master.

Only 8 track simultaneuos playback. You have to bounce everything to virtual tracks.

Sensitive gain knobs make finding clip level a tedious endevour.

Only two effects total used at a time for all tracks. (You can get expansion boards.)

No VGA/mouse capability. Newer VS' have it

Overview:

I've only had this for a week so this will be updated as I find more things I like and hate about it. So far however I find my recordings are pretty clean and full sounding. With a little experience on one of these you could definatley get some quality recordings out of it. I plan on getting some stuff on the listening post as soon as I get my MIDI interface or my CD-R drive. Whatever comes first.
