Sharing because this is seriously the most fun song I've ever played on guitar. I don't think many people know it and it should for sure be in circulation.

I can actually fingerpick this song at tempo and it's the first time I feel like a real guitar player -- best feeling ever! A million thank yous to Lisa, Chris, forum peeps, and everyone at GuitarTricks!

(If the Bm is too hard to reach for, sub in an A7, it'll do ya')

It's a great song. The quality of John's songs and ability to play was underrated. He had a great sense of melody. If you can fingerpick that song, well done!!

And as a bit of childhood awesomeness; I saw a John Denver concert...front row! Must have been 1976, I think. The warm up act was the Starland Vocal Band (you know, 'Afternoon Delight'). This was before my concert going was more rock...

I also saw Sonny and Cher as well as Captain and Tenielle (Kenny Rogers as warm up!).

Yep, John was a phenomenal guitar player and, fortunately, less and less underrated and more appreciated! If you haven't heard his Bells of Rhymney, check it out.

I'd trade it all plus the gal down the road ;-) to have seen him live in 76 from the front row!

Had the pleasure of seeing John Denver 4 times. First in 1972, then 3 more times with my wife in the 80`s and 90`s. Such a great songwriter and performer. Can play a few of his songs too ! I`ll have to check out the one you mentioned.

Another one for you Faith, leaving on a jetplane from John, easy open chords and easy fingerpicking.

Original in G intro D chord with embellishments.

Have fun

Leaving on a Jet Plane is a great song!

Beyond the hits, there are so many treasures in his deep/album cuts! Really really mindblowing stuff that probably most people haven't heard -- he was an incredible songwriter and stylist.

If you haven't heard the Harbor Lights Concert, it's two hours you won't regret. One of the most incredible live performances I've ever heard (and I've heard some incredible ones), full of songs most people don't even know John did.
