Is it just me,or has junk mail become too f***ing much?

There used to be a time when I got,on average,between 8 to 15 emails in my junk folder(yahoo).
These days it's never less than forty,and god forbid if I don't get online in two days;I'll find 125 unread messages.
And these days junksters even know me by name!! :eek: I'll get something like '....david,....guitartricks...'' or some **** like that that looks very personal but I know it's crap coz fro one it's a forward and two its 34KB.
Is your email messed up like that lately as well?

All I do is I have a bunch of e-mail addresses. The one that I use for this site and for all my online sign-ups is [email]jason.ebay@sympatico.ca[/email] (as is obvious, I opened it for the purpose of using it with an ebay account).

The other one is a closely guarded secret. In fact, I never get mail in it. Yippee!

OK, just kidding, I only give it to people that I know in "real-life". That way, if I start getting spam in it (which I never have), I can track down who gave it out and beat the you-know-what out of them.

About junk mail:

It's gone way too far.. I have one e-mail address [email]Inisfail@hotmail.com[/email] . That mail is beyond words sick. If I clean up my junk-mail it will be filled within 15 min. I'm not kidding. I've had that adress for over 5-6 years and subscribed to everything, used it everywhere and it's been selled from company to company over the years. I mean, some of those mails makes me sick just reading the subject. There are sick people in this world, and they try to sell their sick stuff to me.. By the way, don't mail that adress, I wont check it..

I never get junk mail on my yahoo account. My aol account I get about 10 a day probably. I just think it goes to show what a sick world we live in, to such a point that I'm not allowed to stay home alone for a weekend, so I can have a massive orgy.... maybe I've said too much.
Junk mail pisses me off, but its just one of the bad results that have come with the internet.

Junk mail sux. And keeping too many email addresses only gets more confusing. I'd forget the passwords.. :(

I think it accounts for something like 85% of all email traffic, scary !
I have a junk filter, works a treat I reckon I get about 10-20 junk messages a day.

I just use the same password for each.

I've accumulated a few email addresses over the years; 4 currently active Hotmail accounts and 4 Sympatico accounts. The main "spam" account is the Hotmail address that used to be my main one. Since I only use the Sympatico accounts these days, I get maybe 1 spam e-mail message a week (that's using Hotmail's junk mail filter, though).

Spam used to tick me off, but I don't even notice it anymore. Please don't hate me!

I don't know what you've been doing online, but I very, very rarely find more than 3 in my junk mail and that's with spaced out checks. Course I take my computer very seriously and I don't put anything on it that I don't want and vice versa.

Just be careful what you do online, that junk mail doesn't just appear, places you go and things you do cause that stuff to find you. Just think long and hard before giving your email address out. Hell, you could do what I do. I use my ISP email address for signing up for **** I don't care about. It's got 25 megs of space to use so I don't need to check regularly. If I'm interested in what I'm signing up for then I'll put the email address I use in. If not, then I sign up my ISP address. It does pay to have a backup email address solely for **** you don't care about. I don't get enough email to need 25 megs. 4 megs does just fine considering I rarely exceed the 20% marker. Again, just be careful. The internet is a dangerous place if you don't know what you're doing. Junk mail is just getting off easy. A friend of mine was over and he started looking at porn. Later after he left, I found 4 viruses and a ****load of software that literally just appeared. I had to do a system restore to get things back to normal and even then I still found another virus.
