I used a plethora of, EQs, distortion boxes, compression sustainers, choruses, flangers, modelers, you name it. I eventually settled on a Pod pro which I am still using and love to bits.
Admittedly one of the worst things about the Marshall (and was my fault and not the amp) was that I wasn't in a place where I could really crank it and in total indifference to the valve pre, I wasn't getting a heavy enough tone from the dirty channel. Also the clean channel was distorting at really low volume which also was not what I wanted.
If I ever want a half / full-stack, Marshall will be one of my first ports of call but I will be looking for an all tube system !
OK that is my 2c, Im going to get off my soap box and stop ranting. Whatever you decide to do I hope you end up with an amp that suits you !
