Hey all,

I tried a mic setup with my amp I thought I'd share. I setup this way and recorded at a comfortable level and got more tone than ever before.

Here's what I'm using:

Strat -- Hot Rod DeVille

Behringer B-1 Large Diaphragm Condenser Mic -- Behringer 6 channel stereo mixer -- Live Drive IR with the Creative Audigy Gamer soundcard.

I placed the mic facing the corner of the room about 18" to 2' from the corner of the room (so it looks like you're miking the corner)

Then, I put my amp directly behind the mic. I only had the volume on about 2 or 3. The mic is capturing the volume off the reflections from the wall (coloring your sound a bit, but not much). This also gives your sound a bit more time to mature, and allows most of your sound to be captured instead of lost in the room.

On the mixer, I set the channel volume very low and the master volume quite high. Lowe pre and high post = nice and clean.

I'm using Adobe Audition (formerly Cool Edit) as my editing software and it sounds killer. Give it a try and tell me what you think!
