The popular stuff that comes out today... is basically based around either Nu-Metal or Punk. Which do you prefer. Sadly i do prefer Nu-Metal for these reasons:

-In pop punk there is always a really sappy singer, like the people havent gone thorugh puberty yet. i really havent see a good punk band since Green Day.
-Nu-Metal actually has some good bands.... Godsmack and sevendsut are some of my favorite bands.
-Nu-Metal can actually deliver some pretty cool riffs.

Which do you guys prefer?

That's a generous definition of nu-metal.

I personally like metal-influenced music. Like metal disco, or Evanescence, or Cold.

I prefer punk

nu-metal ****ing sucks ass bigtime. its all posers trying to look cool by wearing baggy pants and wallet chains, singing very badly specially trying to grunt.

hardly any metal going on, accept for the fact that they drop tune to D almost no solos, and the best part of all is their videos, - how heavy can we look if we have wind blasting in our faces, jump up and down when the chorus is on, which doesnt have any fast tempo's or anything special, specially lyrics wise.-

And as for mentioning greenday, theyre hardly punk. besides almost evry band on tv is regurgitating the formula of fame, and success.

I prefer to listen to The Stranglers or The Sex Pistols than a lot of Nu-Metal. Both have poor singing, dead simple music and were aimed at the younger generation but at least punk wasn't all about making money.

Most nu metal is pathetic. Some is alright but hardly any. All punk is rubbish except the odd song every now and again. Generally both types of music or quite primitive which is a fact.
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

Both genres have nothing to offer in my opinion exept childish 'whhoooaaahhh is me,I'm so depressed, look at how crappy the world is even though I have a nice car and my future is secure since my parents handed me everything' lyrics...lame as hell.

No musical value either...the aimed audience could give a sh*t less about solo's,song structure, polyrhythms, proggressions e.c.t.The people who actually buy into punk and nu-metal(no more respectable than boy bands)are pre-teens and teenagers that think their different and depressed and therefor intersesting(you just arn't as cool if your not bi sexual...that makes you deep, mysterious and interesting).

Even worse is the middle aged well learned guitarist that was never exposed to anything but motley crue and kiss so he trys connecting with the young'ins by ripping out riffs from bands such as disturbed, godsmack and staind...We have one of these in my rehearsal building...great guy..to bad I smoked on his equipment in front of his friends while he played the latest in cool music from godsmack...lol.

ehhh...I'm done!
