Well... I can remember a certain multi platinum 80 hairband that had a bass player who couldn't play for **** live... of course they unloaded him after the "slippery when wet" CD....
So. If you throw a cat out of a car window, is it considered "kitty litter"?

The Beatles were good but the drummer (Ringo Starr) wasn't good.
If I leave here tomorrow,
Will you still remember me?

with some bands the total is greater than the sum of their parts. i.e some good stuff is coming out of bands where idividual standards of musicianship are not that high e.g. the Clash, Ramones, Beatles, Stones, Kinks, Joy Division/New Order etc.

on the other other hand there are many (in my view) godawful bands comprising top players e.g. most prog rock and metal bands

cant think of many bands where one crap 'musician' is being carried by the rest although I felt that Morrissey was the weak link in the Smiths. come to think of it, singers are often the weakest link in many bands.

Reminds me of my current band where our really good bass player has just left us 'cos he can't stand our singers voice. His mates said we were very good musically except for our singer. Now we have no bass.
Anybody know any good bass players around Bristol/Weston area in the SouthWest England then tell 'em to give me a shout:)
Only guys we had so far is one who don't have a vehicle and the other didn't want to travel.

I like Creed's guitarist, but feel bad he's in Creed. That band sucks ass. Many times I've been driving down the road with a rock station dialed in my radio and I start grooving out on some nice guitar work, then I hear Creed's lead singer start singing and I quickly change the station.
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.

I was waiting for Creed to be mentioned. Singer is cough Eddie Vedder rip off cough cough. But yeah very time a Creed song is played I'm dissapointed with the guitar playing cos I expect more. Dunno why, Marks never shown his "true" ability, but every now n then you think he's gunna do something good... and he just doesn't. I'd like to hear him play some good stuff just to see if he could.

Yeah, the talent of the band far outweighted that of Roth. His voice is ignoing, but i can understand your point of view.

Yes with Trevor Raven on guitar, it was the downfall of a great band.

kirk hammet should be here i do agree. He is hopeless. He shouldnt even be allowed to play. Almost every player on this site is better hahahaha
By virtue of their electrical properties, tubes generate a special waveform when they're saturated, which is why tube engineering has tremendous tonal advantages over solid state or DSP solutions, particularly for crunch and lead sounds. Tubes enter the saturation zone gradually or softly, which lends tube-driven tone its trademark yet totally unique character.

I agree with gainer that the beatles drummer didnt fit in well. If anybody has the Rolling Stones Magazine top 100 guitarists edition it seems like it rates the guitarists on how they fit in their band instead of their abilities to play guitar. For example Eddie Van Halen only came in 70th place.
Jimi Hendrix is the best guitarist

Funny quote:

Someone once asked John Lennon: "Do you think Ringo Starr is the best drummer in the world?"

Lennon replied: "Best drummer in the world? He isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!"

That could be closer to the truth than you might think... Lennon did a lot of the drum tracks, e.g. My Guitar Gently Weeps, if I'm not mistaken...
... and that's all I have to say about that.

???

Then who played the other instruments?

7. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (4:45)
Recorded: July 25, 1968 at Abbey Road, London, England, remade August 16, 1968 with overdubs September 3, 1968, and remade again September 5, 1968 with overdubs September 6, 1968
John Lennon - acoustic guitar, organ, harmony vocal
Paul McCartney - bass guitar, piano, harmony vocal
George Harrison - double-tracked lead vocal, acoustic guitar, lead guitar
Ringo Starr - drums, castanets, tambourine
Eric Clapton - Gibson Les Paul lead guitar

Here's where I got it from

P.S. I guess I was wrong about Lennon playing drums on this track, though.
... and that's all I have to say about that.
