I'm not sure if this has been conversed about before...
What makes a "good" guitarist?
Is it ability/skill in the hands?
Is it knowlege of the fretboard?
Is it a the # of songs at his/her disposal?
Is it a good ear to play whats heard?

theres some more I'm sure...

One could know many songs, but lack advanced technique and an ear for music.
One could know few songs, but have able hands.
theres lots of combinations of qualitys.

I have able hands and a good ear, with small knowlege of the fretboard and a handful of songs people would recognize.

What qualitys make you up as a guitarist?
what qualitys make a "good"(by good,I mean recognized as good by non-guitar players)guitarist?

Break yourself down and find your strong points and weak.
Try once,fail twice...

I consider a good guitarist (or musician for instance) the guy that'll make the guys he plays with sound better.

Depending on the style he'll play, it'll require more theory/technique, but that's a rule that works in any style...

A good guitarist in my opinion is one that has a feeling of his limitations and makes most out of it without struggling with the guitar. Perfect example here :Cobain and John Frusciante, both are very creative musicians and they are not very technically skilled but still they fit very well in their bands.
The world is loaded, it's lit to pop, nobody is gonna stop!

I think your good when your both technically sound, and know how to play with taste (just one of the two seems okay anyway), AND, can make the guitar sound the way you'd like it to.
And God said, 'Let there be rock!'
-And it was good

You are a good guitarist when another player says you are good.
