Yo !

I was wondering who of you guys has ever gone to a guitar-builder and had him building a guitar for you according to your descriptions?

Im in the process of doing so.
My guitar will be a 36 fret (well - actually 33 fret with wholetones from the 30th fret onward - but all in all 3 octaves per string) with a fretless 7th string (low B)

Pickup will be an active EMG 7string picup and probably a piezzopickup for neat acousticsound. It will be made from exquisit woods (we are not yet decided what woods exactly) and it will have some cool finish 8which is also undecidded yet)

I also have a pic of the plan here but the site where i uploaded it is down at the moment - i wil include it later on

the whole thing will be somewhere between 2800 and 3200 Euro (which is more or less the same amount in USD)

Constructor is neubauer-guitars (www.neubauerguitars.com) - an EXCELLENT guitarmanufacturer - i´ve played some of is instruments and they are WAAAY better than ANYTHING i have ever played before - even the realy expensive guitars like parker

Cool man , I'm waiting for pix ;) .

I always wanted to have custom made guitars , but they're way expensive than I can afford now ... Probably I could get myself one or two , in the next 10-15 years ! :D

A longer scale would be harder to play on the lower frets ... Michael Angelo has a 29 frets guitar and it seems to be 25.5" scale (not sure) , and he manages to reach the 29th.

What's actualy bothering my mind is the 7th frettless string thing , you mean you're going to cut the frets right after the 6th , yeah ? Now , you'll also have to leave a plenty of space for the 7th string not to hit the frets or go out of the neck by mistake ... That would be one heck of a guitar fretboard !

I suggest you add a Floyd Rose tremolo too , cuz it seems that you want this axe to have almost everything ,like a swiss knife ;) .

The scale will be standard-strat scale - a onger scale would be more like a baritone-guitar - i dont want that one on this guitar.

no floyd rose - i need a good tone.

at the 7th string the fretboard will be a different wood (the one they have on the fretless basses) and the fretboard will be raised so that the surface of the fretless part is even with the top of the frets - so there will be no problem.

Carvings are very cool ... I have a pic of a Gibson LP , one of a kind called "autumn" , which had leaves and stuff like that carved on it ... That's the most beautiful guitar I've ever saw .

Here is a pic of what it might look like (some minor changes will be applied and the proportions are not correct i think) - ignore the finish and the headstock - both will be changed

(this one has also been built be the dude who is goin to build mine)
