Hello, I just started learning the guitar today and already my finger tips are killing  me. Any advice to help reduce pain when playing?

My personal experience in building calluses is that multiple short practice sessions during the day works best and causes the least discomfort.

Good luck.  Have fun.

Unfortunately sore finger tips are part of the process, you will develop callouses over time, I could only play for 5 to 10 minutes when starting out too.

I found a way to build harder skin was to hold a credit card in my hand and press it into my fingertips like the strings of a guitar.
