Yup. Don Wilson, who died last month, was announced as a recipient for "the development and enrichment of musical culture in Japan..." at the spring 2010 awarding to foreign nationals. There are six classes, Wilson and/or The Ventures received the 4th Class order, Gold Rays with Rosette. The Ventures were very big in Japan and toured there regularly well past their popularity in the States. Supposedly, some of their stuff recorded exclusively for the Japanese market outsold The Beatles.
