I have the a similar problem on my iPad as well.

I've found that if I wait long enough (many minutes sometimes!) it'll finally catch up and try to do what I'd like to do.  It seems a number of tools in the tool box don't like running on iPads.  I've learned to live with it by downloading a metronome app from the Apple Store that works great and a couple of other backing tracks apps as well.

I wish the toolbox stuff worked better for me since iPad is my chosen platform, but most all of the other content on the site seems to run just fine so I'm content.
