Hi Everyone

I've been wanting to learn guitar since I was a kid, and eventually be skilled enough that I could sing along, and improvise and have some fun. Well through the second beginner course, and I love it! It's never too late!

Thank you Anders! You rock (and blues, and classical). :)

The freedom of playing or improvising real music that interests/inspires you really cannot be expressed in words alone, but the feeling is incredible.

Playing your first actual song is something to be savoured, forever.

I just watched Phantom of the Opera this afternoon, starring Gerrard Butler although Antonio Banderas is just as overpowering. My personal inspiration and muse has soared through the roof.

I hope yours has too. Here's to our musical journey!

Kind regards,

Glad I found this topic title because in my early 70's I was beginning to think it was Too Late to begin.

Anyway, I have a question about something from the early part of Anders' Part 1 tutorial.

in "Three High" he just uses one string for G Major and again one for E Minor. However the Guitartricks Essential Chords for Beginners sheet shows that these chords use more strings?

Is Anders easing us in or have another reason for this. He does this again regarding strumming D Major when he makes a big point of avoiding the Low E string but the A string isn't included on the chord chart either (maybe he is expecting that in time we'll learn D Major and strum only the 4 strings but for now avoiding just the Low E string will get us more in the ballpark of a pure D Major) ?
