I've been trying to learn the song Slayer - Black Magic. Multiple websites state BPM 94. [br]Yet I'm up to 120 BPM on the metronome and can't even touch the song because it's faster than I can play [I can't move my hands anywhere close to the speed of the song] what gives? I don't understand.

BPM is the count. It doesn't equate to the number of notes played per minute. There could be one note that lasts for several beats or, at the other end of the scale, 32 notes played per beat.

If you're playing with a metronome set at a faster tempo than the recording but still playing slower, then that suggests you're playing notes of too long a duration (e.g. quarter notes where they should be 16th notes).

It says the song contains double time. [br][br]I googled the phrase double time [br][br][[[ The tempo of the quarter notes stays the same![br]The time signature stays the same![br]The tempo of the vocals/melody stays the same![br]The only difference is that the guitars, bass, and drums simply play more notes/beats per bar in a fashion such that it feels like the tempo doubled! ]]]

This still relates to the tempo (or count) and not the actual number of notes you need to play.

I have no idea what your playing level is, but I think it would be a good idea for you to study music theory from the basics in order to get a better understanding of where you are going wrong with playing this song using a metronome.
