Please tell me I'm not the only one who some days can't put the simplest chords together, usually the day after I think I'm making good progress. Should I just leave it for the day and start fresh next day?

My progress is slow, as I can't really give it the time I'd like to, but I'm very determined to play at least one recognisable song.

Agreed. If you're struggling, set it aside for a day and for some reason when you get back to it your outlook will be different and it will happen!
