Hi! I've been plunking away at guitar (on and off) for around four years. I guess a lot of members here pick up their guitar once a week, dust off the strings, and torture the cosmos for twenty minutes before making the decision, "Right, done for today. I'll carry on later tonight, or tomorrow morning." A week later, picks up guitar again and... Okay, you get the drift. So... I can reasonably hit E, A, D (mostly), C (give me a second...), and G... hang on... G. There. Watch this... *Struggles to position fingers*... TWANG! An almost passable barre chord. Four years. Come on! I'm shelling out real money now. Cheaper than one-on-one lessons, but real money nevertheless. I can do this. Anybody out there feel me? I'm murdering Johnny Cash "Walk The Line" at the moment. Still loving it, but I got to make the time to practice.

Hi pathlewr!

You are SO not alone in this quandary!

Even though you have been playing for quite some time, I would suggest going through Guitar Fundamentals 1, to clean up some of your basic skills.

You could likely zoom through the first set of lessons using simple chords, but when you get to full chords, I teach a LOT of really powerful strategies for getting from one chord to the next, cleanly and on time.

And all along the way in the course, there are play-along songs (with me) so you can practice making those chord changes on time, within the context of a song that is moving along.

Give it a look - I think it should help you a lot!

Have fun - Lisa
