I have seen comments about tuning up a half step both in reference to using lighter strings and also with short scale guitars which have less string tension

When people do this do they play their chords in the normal shapes and just live with whatever small change this makes or do you have to adjust your chord shapes to suit

If you are playing along with existing music, then you have to either be in tune with it or adjust your playing to match.

If you are playing with other people it's possible to get everyone to up or down tune the same amount, then you can all refer to the same pitch & chords.

Make sense?

Yes Christopher

play alone or with a group in step is fine

playing out of step with another would need playing changes to suit

thanks
