Dude, I'm about to turn 46 and I've been playing for all of 4 days total. In my life. I haven't picked up any instrument at all in probably 30 years, easily. Everyone has to start somewhere, and while it might take us a bit longer to get our bodies to move, and we have to compensate with wrist braces, longer warm-up exercises, and the like, I figure that it's never too late to learn new tricks. Can't be a wiz over night, you know? It's not a race, sit back and enjoy it and don't let the pressure of not being a prodigy bear you down.
