Hi All,

Thought I`d post this. We had our office Christmas party today , so I brought my guitar in and played some songs for everyone. Even though it was just an office party ( and a small one at that) it was the first time that I played for anyone other than my family. Even though I knew everyone there, I still tried to treat it like a real gig : selected some songs and practiced/rehearsed them for a few weeks, made sure the guitar was in tune etc.....

I was a little jittery at first, but once I started playing, muscle memory kicked in and it was fun. Other than a few minor flubs, things went pretty smoothly and everyone had a good time. My next step will be to play for our church once things open up again. Then, maybe, just maybe , an open mic night. Baby steps.

Merry Christmas everyone !

Nice lineup of songs there! I love Runaway Train...one of the first full songs I learned how to play on here. :) I played it so much I think I can do it in my sleep.

I was hoping there'd be a JD song in there... (That one is particularly fun to play!)

well done, I just went to Spotify and listened to a few songs in your line up.

I would definitely like to play that Sandman by America. How would I go about it?

Thanks in advance

Hi Anthm,

I went to ultimate guitar .com to get the chords and where the chord changes occur. ( Not sure if there`s a song tutuorial in GT for that song). Then I just listened to the original recording to get the timing, tempo and strum patterns down. I would put the song tab up on my laptop screen while listening to the original recording on my headphones and learn to play along. That`s usually how I learn a new song.

Hope this helps.
