Hello - let me start by saying I love your site, and I'm throwing you alot of hits from my site, http://guitar-pedal.com . My only comment would be on the pop-up ads. I know there are bots and filters to shut them out, but they're just plain annoying. You have a great site, I'm only commenting on this because you could potentially loose some return members that get tired of closing all the pop-ups ads. Rock on !

its a trade off. we've had this conversation before. yeah we all hate the pop-ups but they're what keeps this site free. Our almighty leader, Jon Broderick, has to pay the server costs and the bottom line is that he has popups or we pay to belong. in the long run i think we'll lose many more people if this site becomes a pay site.
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Zepp,
I pay all my costs, sometimes I break even, sometimes not. Only porn sites are "pay" sites... Jon should reconsider.

I know as much as I enjoy this site, the day I have to pay is the day I'd have to stop coming here. Which would suck! N4player, I doubt Jon would want to pay for this site out of his pocket. For the people who hate the pop-ups, the pop-ups will stop popping up if you get a pop-up blocker, earthlink has a free one.

i am pretty sure this will help you out with the pop up ads. just go to download.com and download ultimate pop up killer. it's free and works very well on internet explorer. please tell me if this helps at all.

This site serves over 1 gigabyte of files every day, so it is not easy to pay for. Most sites serve about 10MB per day.

The popups pay way better than other ads. As it is, we barely break even.

The problem is that we serve mp3s instead of just pages. If it were only pages, we wouldn't have a problem.

We are starting to seriously consider adding a paying type of membership in an effort to get rid of popups. Some people would pay to have full mp3 access. Others would have limited access to mp3s for free.

We welcome your comments.

Jon, I understand the dilemma. My site is currently limited to 70M, and I'm real close to that. I'll probably be shelling out more $$ shortly for excess usage and file transfers. Pop-ups are annoying, but if they're keeping the site free, I'll have to agree with zepp_rules - "it's a trade off". Rock On !

WOW! I didn't realize the website was running so much. I guess it would be hard for you to pay for it, especially if your running only on the sponsership of other companies. If you were planning on making somethings on the site "pay to access", how limited would the site become for those who couldn't pay? Will it only be for accessing the Mp3 links, or are you going to have to pay for anything else?? About the pop-ups, once you get a pop-up blocker they don't come up. So once the word gets out, I don't think it will become an issue anymore. About your issue with paying for the site Jon, I think one of the coolest things about this site is it's a public site. ;) I mean, I understand where you are coming from, I just hope you can figure something out so we can still enjoy the site "pay-free".

Jon, BTW - everytime I post a reply, I get a window saying "document contains no data" - so I hit "submit" again, and am brought to the screen that says "the administrator allows only one post every 60 seconds". My posts appear (obviously). Don't know if it's a glitch or something I need to change on my IE settings.
