Thanks for the tutorial link, Bill. I will try that G later today. I think I tried it the other day but it just didn't sound right to me.

It takes as long as it takes unless you quit - then it takes forever and you will never get there.

Hi Herman, I appreciate that you are trying to get folks to be realistic with expectations and to be patient with ourselves. I know that I personally struggle with being patient. I constantly feel like I should be improving much faster than I am, and it is frustrating. Having said that, I like what Bill is doing here and I know it is beyond my ability at this point, but, I think it's a good way to expose ourselves (hey now!) to the idea of ear learning. [br][br]

As for trying to run before we can walk, I am not even crawling yet! I am trying to master just sitting up without having any external support! I hope to advance to the crawling phase of my guitar journey soon, though![br][br]

Stay healthy and stay sane.

Dave...

ps. You do make a good point that I almost missed. Even if I as a beginner can't identify the specific chords, it is very useful to learn to identify the progressions. So I might not know "that's a G going to D to Am but he has a capo" but it's possible that I might be able to hear "he's playing I to V to ii chord progression." I think that's part of what you were saying anyway?

You've got it, that's the way to go.

Try it again, I don't keep vids up for long. I like keeping the channel tidy.
