If you follow one of the courses (Fundamentals or Style Courses), you will get the appropriate amount of theory along with the application all integrated together. It's important to keep your theoretical learning & knowledge on par with & at the same level as your physical skills & practical applications.
If one outpaces the other, then you have an unbalanced situation. Either you can play things that you don't fully understand or know how to use, or how they work. Or you know concepts that you can't apply & have no practical use for.
Almost every tutorial contains some theory, at least enough to understand & explain how & why the lesson content is being taught. So to bring this back to the question, the courses are a great way to accomplish learning more theory, learning songs is another way.

If your skills are beyond the fundamentals, then pick a style course to work on! Blues, country, rock, acoustic. Which course you pick depends on your current skill level & goals. What's you skill level & desired style of music to play?

This is kind of an encyclopedia to refer to when you need to understand some lesson, technique, or idea that you encounter when you are working on learning how to play guitar. For example, the ear training tutorials are something that you can return to over & again as you gradually improve in your playing & listening. And there are other deep catalog tutorials on the site that you can use as you get deeper into learning the instrument.
