hello there,

ive bought a hal leonard book with many scales in it. Where would you start learning?. Is there any key that is played most in any genre?.

currently ive memorised the cmajor pentatonic/aminor pentatonic. on some forums they advise to learn the next note on the circle of fifth.

what would you guys suggest?

thank you

[p]It depends on your skill level & desired style of music to play.

I encourage you to follow one of the courses (Fundamentals or Style Courses). You will get the appropriate amount of theory along with the application all integrated together. I can't stress this enough: it's important to keep your theoretical learning & knowledge on par with & at the same level as your physical skills & practical applications.

If one outpaces the other, then you have an unbalanced situation. Either you can play things that you don't fully understand or know how to use, or how they work. Or you know concepts that you can't apply & have no practical use for.

If you are a complete beginner, then start at Fundamentals 1! If you have a little skill, then jump to GF2. If you find you already have those skills & knowledge, then pick a style course.

So waht is your skill level? What kind of music do you want to play? If you can answer those questions I can better point you in the right direction!

Hope that helps!
