Just learning about diminished passing chords from a Jazz book. They are super easy to use and make my playing sound much more Jazzier!

[br]Its a simple concept; play them inbetween chords within a progression, and make sure the root note of both the diminished chord and the chord you're progressing to are a half step apart.

[br]Who else here uses diminished passing chords in their playing?

Good observation! This idea is also widely used in baroque & classical music. It provides a wonderful added depth & flavor to flesh out harmonies & melodic motion.

You can also use the common tone diminished chord idea of keeping the same root note of the chord or melody in a song & moving between the standard chord & it's diminished version. That's also used in blues sometimes to sub for the IV chord.

Fun stuff!
