Help with pc record

Hi all!
Ok i bouth myself a convertor, conected the guitar via zoom (which has a pre-amp)
and ... the sound was very weak and with to much noise, i tryed to use both inputs - the line in and the microphone...
so what should i do to get my guitar to the right sound??
by the way i'm using SB 128 sound card

try ajusting the volume levels for input& mic in windows (dbl click on the speaker in the systray)

Use the line in socket, I think the mic socket has a lower impedence or something so you will get lower volume by default.

other than that, use a mic to record

Do i supposed to hear myself via speakers?
someone told me i can hear myself only when playing the recorded stuff, but not while recording
