Hi Mike,

Referring to the single guitar version of Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones, how would you incorporate some of the embellishments of guitar2 &3 into a single guitar performance?

Thanks,

Alon

Great Question! Here are a few ideas on ways to go about that:

I recommend playing Guitar 1 on a clean electric guitar - that way, it will be easier to incorporate the lead guitar licks into the performance.

The main approach I would use is to focus on still playing Guitar 1's parts underneath all of the vocals. The spaces in between the vocals have room for incorporating any of the embellishments you like, and certainly the solo section will be a great spot as well.

Lastly, I'd suggest building the arrangement with the embellishments. That means only embellishing sparsely in the early parts of the song, and adding more and more embelleshments toward the end of the song. This gives a great dramatic arc to the arrangement. Be sure to stay true to the dynamics of the song as well.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes!

Thanks, I'll try it.

I was thinking that this song is beautiful on acoustic especially adding the country embellishments like those you showed on the acoustic 2 opening.

That's absolutely a great approach as well. Experiment and see if you can combine different elements from any of the guitar layers you like.

Have fun!
