You might enjoy Stanley Jordan who has been doing that sort of thing for decades but on just 6 strings.

I saw him in a little club in the 80s. He played a bunch of jazz standards like this version of Willow Weep For Me. I wouldn't think it was possible to play like Art Tatum (solo jazz piano) on the guitar until I saw Mr. Jordan. :)

Wow! It's like I don't even want to begin attempting to learn that style because I know how clumsy my picking hand is when I simply try to finger pick or tap, so I can only imagine the difficulties I would face. But I'm sure I'll attempt it one day.

It's amazing the amount of volume he's able to get with his legato and tapping.

And maybe you can help me figure out how he's doing some of this! lol. I kind of get what he's doing but I can't do it well or get the same tone.
