Good point. Then again, the before-mentioned Søren Andersen is in 3 bands that I know of (his solo-project, Glenn Hughes and "Electric Guitars"), and nobody's stopping him from doing all that. So I'm starting to think it might be a good idea to do as you suggest, and start with a few covers and take it from there. I might just find a few songs that I'll actually enjoy playing for others and add my own personal touches to them :)
