your wandering off on an endless journey ,everyone has different taste,depending on what kind of music you are playing and some may say its in your hands and fingers listen to any "cream song " eric clapton has this wonderful smooth fat tone yet its just him i beleive hes using 1959 marshall plexi 100 watt head and early 60s gibson 335 and thats it the guitar straight into the amp no effecs with the exception of wah pedal maybe it comes down to constant expermentation and alot of money lol
