Guitar places in Chicago.
I'm going to Chicago on Monday for best part of a week. Any one suggest some guitar related sites to check out? I know that I'm going to hit Chicago Music Exchange.

I figure you're talking about guitar stores but if it were me, I wouldn't leave Chicago without visiting Buddy Guy's Legends. Thinking about it, I might do dinner there every night I was in town...

Yes, I was talking about guitar stores and I should have specified. But that is a great suggestion. I've been there before. My son lives in Chicago and he is the one that suggested it years ago. And he is not a guitar person but he thought that it would be of interest to me.
He knows that I am a huge Santana fan. Years ago when Santana played Chicago he got tickets for Santana, sent airline tickets to me and my wife and then took me to the concert. Then a couple days later in the trip took us to Buddy Guy's Legends. Hows that for a great son?!?!

I don't have any kids...always wondered if I could rent some...especially around Christmas time. Now I wonder if I could rent one or more for road trips...especially to Chicago. :D

CME is about it. I eman, aside from the standard Sam Ash/Guitar Center, Chicago is surprisingly bleak for guitar stores. However, once you go to CME, it won't matter, NO guitar store will ever compare and you will just go back there......

I've got 3...perhaps we can work out a deal :-). The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. I often I wish I had more time for things like guitar, but honestly I wouldn't change a thing.
If you want to be involved with kids, you could always volunteer at a local school or library to teach an introduction to guitar seminar.

Ewww....I never, ever intended to imply I want to be involved with kids. :rolleyes:
And I certainly never meant to post anything to imply I could teach anything guitar related. :D
Seriously, in the spring of last year I heavily reduced my volunteer work. The drop-off was a surprising relief and the reason I can get in so much guitar practice these days.
As for kids, I/we are blessed to live in a great rural community with great neighbors and kids and, happily, we have been invited into their lives and activities.
Our school (K-8; about 85-100 students) just started a music/band program last year and My Lady and I are planning to sponsor scholarships to pay for instrument rentals. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get guitars into their program. Hmmm...if we sponsored a guitar teacher to make the half-hour trip from town maybe he/she could stop by my practice room afterwards... ;)
