Spend at least a couple hundred dollars.

Why? Materials.

You can't get a decent set of tuners for a guitar for 90 bucks....imagine a whole guitar.

Would it work? Possibly.

Save a few more paychecks and get something the next step up. Going to up a little more can get you a much better guitar. I review the Fender T-Bucket here and I really like the guitar and it's a great value....and looks cool. Under $300 and even a better deal if you look around.

To be clear, I'm not pushing towards that but moreover, save a little more and look around for a good deal that hits the sweet spot between cost and playability.
