I think the Beatles more pop, while the Rolling Stones, besides being more rock n' roll, are more sophisticated and rebellious, everything that Beatles allways wanted to be.

My choice: Rolling Stones.

I'm guessing you may have a lot of disagreement with that assessment.

First, I think, there's no reason to choose one or the other. I can like both and depending on my mood, I'd favor one over the other. Still, it's music to be enjoyed and creating a comparison kinda leaves behind the idea that it is ok to have different musical flavors.

I will, however, point out that suggesting The Beatles were less sophisticated than the Stones is on odd point to make. The Beatles were regularly messing with time signatures (Here Comes the Sun, Strawberry Fields) and a variety of of orchestrations.

This isn't to say anything negative about the Stones in as much as the comparison is an odd one and the reasons seem much more personal than based on what is really true in each artist's catalog.

I never understood why people compare art. Art is a way of expressing ourself and there are 8billions different people in this world. None of them are the same, think the same or express there thoughts the same way.
It always ends up being a fight of different opinions and people trying to push there opinions into someone else's head. And that also, there is no wrong or right actually. So go ahead and express yourself :)

And usually these threads ended up where at least one person has been offended. It's all personal taste/choice. Just like the who is the greatest (fill in the blank).

Your kidding right? I think it'sd the Stones that wish they could be the Beatles. Even if I am wrong about that, the Beatles did not envy the Stones, at all. If anything they were in awe of Hendrix and he influenced the Beatles. It wouldn't surprise me if the Beatles looked at the Stones like they were Beatle wanna be's.

This is such a personal taste issue. The Beatles began as a more mainstream "brand" with a pop feel, and IMHO paved the way for bands with a darker edge, like the Stones. From a musical perspective the Beatles music seemed more melodic to me, and the Stones more rebellious in your face. Musically and vocally there's so many differences, it is like comparing apples to oranges.

Is this a question?

Anyway, here's Mick Jagger as the speaker inducting the Beatles into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
