Hey, Rick. My Epi LP does not either. (Did you reno yours much?) Mine also came "hand wired", I guess you could say. That's why was amazed to open my SG and find a circuit board. Not may circuits, but even the pots were on a wafer board. It seemed ironic. It didn't stay there long :)

The pic probably isn't clear, I took the poly of the back of the neck from nut to heel. There've been conversations here an other places about people's different "chemical make up" and the relative stickiness of poly, and I guess mine didn't mix with Gibson poly. Stuck like fly paper. My Epi was fine, as are other guitars I have, it was just the SG.

Anyway, just couldn't take it any more. I never played the guitar because of it, so I figured I'd have at it. Steel wooled it off, a few coats of tung oil for fill and protection (the mahogany was pretty grainy). It's a totally different guitar! Loving it now.
...so ever since then, I always hang on to the buckle.
