Hey Mike!
First off, I love your teaching style and great choice of songs!
I just wanted to comment about how I love the song lesson "Keep Hands to Yourself". Its a song that you can pretty much play the entire song by yourself if neccessay with the right backing and sound great if you are the only guitarist.
So glad your on guitar tricks!

Mike,
Love your style of playing and your lessons. You really have helped me break out of the "plateau". Curious if you would consider lessons for Candlebox "Far Behind."?
Keep up the great work!

Great song! I would love to teach "Far Behind" but there is an approval process involved so we can't promise to fulfill all requests. Here is some more info on the song lesson process, and this is the "official" place for song requests:

Hey Mike,
I'm having some difficulty with the strumming in the chorus section of In Bloom. Can you tell me what you used for that part?
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
Like everyone else, I love your choice of songs and learned a boatload from you!! Been working on Pretty in Pink by Psychedelic Furs (original version off Talk Talk Talk). Any suggestions on getting the sound?? Would really like this song in the song tutorial...seems to be a lot going on and a unique sound. Thanks!!

Hey Bailes!! I'm so glad to hear you're getting alot out of the lessons!
Pretty In Pink is a great track, with lots of cool guitar layers going on. Be sure to check out this link and request the tune for a tutorial:

As for the guitar tones, just a quick listen revealed the following:
The crunch guitar, to my ears, sounds like a Fender type tube amp with some sort of overdrive/distortion (sounds like a Big Muff to me) providing that thick distortion.
The clean guitar sounds like a Vox AC 30 type amp, send for sparkling clean. This was the 80s so there is most likely lots of chorus, echo, and reverb to give lots of depth.
Again, this is just a quick guideline to get you in the ballpark. Feel free to experiment!!
Thanks for the question! Keep Rocking!!

I have watched several of your video's and you have a great teaching style. I have always wanted to learn this song and the lead John Sykes does on it. None of the versions and/or tabs I have found on the web seem to be accurate. Could you please make a lesson out of it?
