I have a fender starcaster.
And i have a sp-10 fender amp.
OK, first let's review the signal chain.
Make sure you have good working cables. Test them one at a time by plugging each one from the guitar to the amp. Next put a new battery into the pedal. Or plug in the AC power cable if you are not powering it with a battery.
After you confirm the cables are OK, then put the pedal in the mix. Plug one cable solidly into the guitar & then in the correct jack on the distortion pedal. Then, another cable from the pedal into the amp.
Make sure you have the in & out jacks plugged in properly on the pedal. Often a weak or "distant" sound is the result of plugging in a pedal backwards.
Set the amp on a low, clean tone. Turn the pedal knobs all down to zero. Turn on the pedal. Slowly turn up each knob one at time. The idea here is to make sure each knob is working fine & not causing a problem.
