I was wondering if anyone had tone advice for this song - just a rough overview of how the tone is contoured.

Atm I am using guitar rig 4 pro with the Eric Johnson in Manhattan setting. I find this seems to have the dynamic right but I'm not sure about the gain. Exactly how much gain is used in Cliffs?

As an aside - does anyone else find low gain incredibly hard to play. For instance I can absolutely nail this song with high gain or with a clean tone. As soon as the saturation is in between however I find that some notes are not getting through with much clarity.

Probably this is because I'm used to practicing/playing with high gain and clean, and usually only go in between for rhythm.

Hi RiskyNZ,

Our instructor Eric Barnett gets a good Johnson tone. I notice he rolls of the volume knob a bit, maybe this would help balance out the sound?

Here a lesson his:
