mine are:
Hendrix(his voice is the greatest ever, he has like a playa's voice when i think of him i just picture jimi just getting chicks by the score: smooth voice, have you ever wondered why don't people talk to the crowds anymore like hendrix used to do?)

Clapton

SRV(Srv has like one of the best blues voices ever i can close my eyes and picture an old black blues singer, again he was a pimp/playa, look at the get-ups he used to wear i've got a magazine where he has(im looking at it right now)on a fur coat about three rainbow colored scarfs around his neck and to take the cake he has on a black pimp's hat with a yellow rose pinned on it man you gotta admire that.LOL

Santana's Singers(i dunno i think it's Raul Rekow and Santana) i'm not sure

Billie Joe Armstrong(first band i ever got into and it's a treat just to see him make all those crazy faces when he sings)

James Hetfield(i've only heard about 15 metallica songs in my life but he has a certain vibrato that's just remarkable)

------------------
And that's the bottomline............

Does it have to be someone who plays guitar? If so, I'd have to pick Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, John Fogerty, John Lee Hooker and Bob Dylan.

Non-guitar players: Joe ****er, Janis Joplin, Howlin' Wolf, Jim Morrison, Van Morrison, Grace Slick.

Damn censorship. That should be C-o-c-k-e-r.

Maynard James Keenan- TOOL/A Perfect Circle
Zakk Wylde

Mr. Hetfield
Mr. Vai
DC Cooper (formerly of Royal Hunt)

All wonderful vocalists with incredible ranges and a signature style that compliments their music.

Besides for the obvious like hetfield and Ozzy I really like the singer from Incubus. I like the way he holds a lot of his notes over the choruses and stiff like that

1. Thom Yorke (Radiohead) - i can't believe he hasn't been mentioned yet

2. Layne Staley

3. Chris Cornell

I saw STP on TV, and Scott Weiland was really rough. He was using so much echo i thought i was karaoke night or something. and he was doing such an annoying vibrato (whoaaooaaaooouuuahao). I think his voice is overrated, and probably he needs a lot of help in the studio to make his voice sound decent.

ok, i'm not really the eggman

1. Lenny Kravitz (any other Kravitz fans here? I haven't heard anyone talk about him)

2. Steve Taylor (aerosmith, another group I've never heard mentioned here)

3. Ozzy

4. Axl Rose

5. The guy from Van Halen (I thought it was the other Van Halen, Albert(?), but I heard someone say David Lee Roth earlier)

VH has had 3 singers in this order:
1. David Lee Roth (Van Halen to 1984)
2. Sammy Hagar (whaterver was between 1984 and Van Halen 3)
3. Gary Cherone (only on Van Halen 3)

I heard they got back together w/ DLR a while back, I wonder when they'll record something new.

a big #1 goes to Mike Patton of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle. after that:

Jerry Cantrell/Layne Staley
Thom Yorke
Glenn Danzig
Michael Stipe
Maynard Keenan

And i really really want to know why you guys like James Hetfield so much. Almost all of their songs are in one key, E. He has a really small range, and cant seem to finish a phrase without saying "AH!" at the end of the line. He has the best rhythm skills out there that i've heard, but geez the guy can't sing well at all. Their bassist sings better than james. listen to s and m to hear jason sing quite a bit of the lead.

blah. hope i didnt offend anyone, but man i dont understand about james hetfield
