in his particular genre of music i would not disagree, ...you can say he was your favourite, but you cant really say he was THE best overall...not really an apples to apples comparison...

I'll agree that you probably can't name just one person who's been massively successful as "the best"---for all you know there's some guy in your neighborhood that can rip it with 100 times the heart and soul. On the other hand, I don't think he'd mind if there were someone with that amount of skill. He'd just keep on doing what he did.

Certainly agree that SRV may have been the best of the modern day blues men. In my opinion, he was pretty much responsible for the blues revival of the mid to late 80's. I still list him in my top three favorite guitar players of all time, that's for sure.

He is definitely up there in my top 5, had nice singing chops as well.
