Well, if you can look historically, u can see that the Beatles have improved rock music and without them, I think there wouldn't be the classic rock we all now and all it's branches nor any metal branch. So the beatles did a great step for rock music, and without themwe would be still listeing to the very old rock n roll. The Beatles came to break rules, especially with their long hair. They were a big part of the hippie mouvement in the 60s-70s with their messages of peace and love. That's why I like the Beatles, not only for their creative music (especially the mysterioso style) but for their messages too.

They were also pioneers in multitrack recording & one of the first bands to use the studio as a compositional tool itself. Sgt. Pepper was only done on a 4 track but with their use of multiple overdubs and other innovations they stretched the new technology to its limit.

Of course, some would say that the way the Beatles changed the way people looked at the studio was not necessarily a good thing. Sure, the Beatles did create wonderful stuff out of the studio, but perhaps they have been part of the reason so mayn artists now use the studio as their crutch, and there are so many crap singers who need to have things altered in the studio.
"Dozens of people spontaneously combust each year, it's just not that widely reported".
