if you want to play funk, you´ll need a wah-wah, if you want to play jimi-hendrix-style songs, you´ll need both a wah and a distortion pedal...
the best thing for you to do is, if you dont have lots of money, is to buy a single overdrive pedal, cause the majority of bands around use it a lot, and its a great thing to play super-hyper-heavy-metal, (I personally love it...)
before you buy it, ask the salesman to indicate you the best for you style of playing
