calling all geeks.

im trying to rewire an old guitar just to have something to carry around with me and my pignose. the setup is one humbucker and one volume pot and the out put jack. my problem is where to go with the wires. heres what i got so far (sry no pics)

from pick up: ground to back of pot, hot to middle pole of of pot?
from pot: third pole to ground side of jack, back of pot to spring claw for grounding.
where im stuck is do i run the hotside of the jack from the first pole of the pot like i would with a selector switch?

thanks for anyhelp i can get
They say the END is near, but I'm Tired of waiting.

YES, depending which end terminal you choose will determine the direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) to increase or lower the volume
if you always take the lazy route
