this is the exact model I am getting with the same type of case...I will have it paid off in 3 weeks from Guitar Center(I got it for $899 on sale) I asked one store person if I can get it for the sale price even though I will not have it paid off by July 5th when the sale ends and she said "no"....so I asked another sales guy and he said he will look into it and the next day he called me and said "no problem, it is yours for the sale price when you pay it off "...insert expletive here for the 1st sales chick..... I am chomping at the bit again...I think I have a problem...but I don't care:cool:

cool man... nice vibe to Gibson guitars... quite a collection you're building. I trust you got hold of one that passed quality control with flying colours...

You can't go wrong with an Explorer. I love my '84.

I checked it top to bottom and the intonation is good as well.

One more thing I forgot to mention;

The ONLY problem Explorers have is the crappy plastic jackplate. You will want to go buy a metal one at Guitar Center; its worth the $7. The plastic ones aren't very sturdy and all it takes is just a year or so of normal use before the corners will start cracking and eventually it'll break and the jack will sag by the wire.

Nice looking axe dude.

I'm starting to get some guitar GAS. I've spent the last 6 months doing up my pedal board and signal chain, but just one vibe pedal, a chorus/flanger and a compressor to go and it will be all up and perfect...so after that, I think it may well be tele time...hmmm *happysigh*

News to me, but that is nice. Mine came with the plastic jack (because its an '84) and they crack easy. ALso be careful with pulling on a cord thats in the jack for those little screws are pretty tiny and one hard tug from trying to walk and stepping on the cord is all you need to dislodge the screws and strip the holes (Please don't make me tell you how I found this out).

Nothing aggrivates me more than that little doozy there. Kinda just one of those things where you're frustrated already, and the smallest things drive you nuts. Like when you're weed wacking and the thing catches on a nasty old vine or something and the smallest of tugs on the end sends yourself in a rage, demolishing the nicest of plants that come across your path. :mad:

Set myself up for that one I did. (Yoda me talk like :D ) I can't be the only one whos felt that way before. I'm not an anrgy person... really. :) (I enjoy listening to Cheyenne Kimball, so I think that automatically renders me anger free.)

I can get pretty angry but NONE of my guitars or computers or my motorcycle or car or video-game paraphernalia (I'm a big gamer) or clothes or anything but my keyboard ever really feels the brunt of it.

I get qwertitis from anger, if anybody understands that (yes I am a total nerd too)

Enough Hijacking though; how is the action on your Explorer set? Mine is set to really low with virtually no fret buzz (but I sometimes fret notes on other strings when I'm bending on accident)

Also if I could suggest one modification; go to the guitar store and buy a pair of Fender strap-pins or those locking ones. Old straps will come off the Gibson strap-pin pretty easy (because its kind of tiny). I got tired of mine falling off as I was playing (It fell all the way to the ground once, taht was the last straw) so I took a strap pin from my Stratocopy and put it on the neck-pin (the one on your left tahts next to the fretboard, not on the bottom near the jack) and that solved everything.

I would never put my lovely Fender Mustang into harms way, but I sometimes manage to do the step on the cable and walk away thing, which on a bad day might result in a quality... "Ahhhhhh, COME ON!" :cool:

dude, just loop your cable through your strap before plugging it into your guitar, and that step on the cable problem vanishes.

Ya, I do that already. I'm really just making a big deal of it, because quite frankly I don't really care. But in a small room, the walking in circles and bumping into things pays its toll. :rolleyes:
