I am glad that someone mentioned Trey Anastatio. He blows a lot of guitarists out of the water.
What about not so well known guitarists?
Keller Williams
Leo Kotcke
JERRY GARCIA
Grant Green
Doc Watson
Bill Nershi(String Cheeses Incident)

There a lot of great guitarists out there that aren't all about wailling away. Think about guitarist who jam. Not just over a band but with a band. Anyone whao has been playing for a while can rip it over some minor stuf. But what about actually flowing with the rest of the musicians? That is when you take it to the next level.

Slash
Page
Dave Murray (Iron Maiden)
Tony Iommi
Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest - Why does KK Downing always get mentioned above glen? Glenn's much better)
Randy Rhoads
Michael Wilton and Chris de Garmo (Queensrÿche)

That'll do for now. Expect updates later on...
