Rebiasing My Amp

So I wanna switch out the old 5881's for some EL34's and there is a switch on the back of the amp for doing so. Should the internal bias still be set? Can I do it myself without killing myself (assuming i am a reasonably intelligent person ;) )? Point me in the right direction.

Its a Carvin MTS 3212...I bought it used and the power tubes appear to be in need of switching...The repair shop I talked to quoted me for 45 bucks with a 2-3 week wait

Im not familiar with those beasts however if you have a voltmeter it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
A good person to talk to is Bob form www.eurotubes.com. He is a good egg and can also sell you some totally brilliant tubes (JJs) !!
The quote doesn't seem to bad but the wait is totally unreasonable !

Wow, thanks Doc! And why the hell are u up so early (or late)? Anyways, I'll give the article a more thorough look tomorrow when im sober. I've already ordered some Svetlana EL34's and JJ 12ax7's so hopefully they'll bring the beast to life! Thanks again, bro!

The TSL100, nuf said. Great Amp!! Have you had the opportunity to play through the 6100LE by any chance? If so, what's your opinion if it? I played through it a few times now and it's a Monster, but I still need to find that warm tone by dialing it in. Haven't got completely there yet. Those old JTM45's kinda spoil ya, I guess. Even the walls get all happy with fuzzyness.

Well I biased the sucker by myself last night and nobody died! Woohoo! Biased it pretty hot (i think)...about 180 mA per Bob at Eurotube's recommendation. Sounds sweet!

I haven't had the pleasure however the TSL kited out with JJs and a powerbreak is more than enough for me !! I have been running either a PRS CE24 or a Gibson Classic through it and it just never fails to tickle my Yumm bone !

Know what ya mean. I souped up my DSL100 w/JJE34L's and ECC83S's, what a difference!!!! Especially when I run my Les Paul Standard D.C. through it. Thick as molasses!!!
